For the last 4 weeks I have been on 300 mg/day Allopurinol.  Since this time I have noticed that my allergies have been out of control.  i.e. sneeze really hard and often, constant runny nose.  Also have a small (pea sized)red round skin rash just above my eye and under my eye brow.

What's weird is that I don't normally get allergies and definitely never this bad.  I have tried Zyrtec, Claritin, and each of those with the Decongestant as well.

My question is, would Allopurinol possibly make me more succeptable to pollen allergies?  I am in Arkansas and the pollen is extremely high this time of year, but like I said, have never really had them before this year.

    Thanks for the help.

I don't think allopurinol would affect allergies. It is most likely a coincidence. There are a lot of Spring pollens in the air this time of year.

A way to find out for sure is to stop the alllopurinol for a week or two and note your symptoms then restart and note your symptoms.

(Of course this risks an attack so maybe some prophyllactic colchicine during this period might be wise…like 2 a day.)
