Most Alkaline Foods List

Continuing my reorganization of alkaline foods and gout, the chart below lists the 100 most alkaline foods chart.

Alkaline Foods And Gout

There is a place in your gout diet plans for alkalizing foods, but the topic is very complex, and it should not distract you from a proper gout management plan. Good gout management involves you and your doctor working together to maintain uric acid no higher than 5mg/dL (0.30mmol/L). That will control your gout, though you will still need pain relief for six months or so, until old uric acid crystals have dissolved.

Your diet should help, not hinder, your gout treatment plan, and an alkalizing diet can help this, as it promotes excretion of uric acid. It is an easy diet to follow in general terms, but it can get very complicated if you try to seek maximum alkalization. I will write more on this soon, with some different approaches that reflect my new style of indicating the speed of your journey to gout freedom.

I urge you to study the gout diet menu pages about the principles of alkalizing diets before you consult the table below. The table is to allow you to make better food choices. It is not a list of foods to eat, as you need to balance acid and alkaline foods to avoid malnutrition.

100 Most Alkaline Foods List

2013 Update: Please note that I have prepared a new version of this table. High Alkaline Foods for Gout Diet Menu lists key foods only, and has more nutritional information of interest to gout sufferers. This new table uses 100 calorie servings rather than the 100 gram used in the table below.
