Doctor's gout treatments make you feel worse?
Your diet increases your pain?

GoutPal will help you get rid of this curse.
A True Friend to help you keep sane.

Like most gout sufferers my first attack led to a trip to the doctors.
It took almost a week of discomfort in hospital to reach a diagnosis.
Then I got the standard advice: -
- Try a few different pills to see which has least side effects
- See a dietician who will ban all the foods you like
- Avoid alcohol
All this advice from non-sufferers and then your friends just laugh at you!

To add insult to injury, a lot of the standard advice is outmoded, conflicting, contentious or mere opinion. I've realized that the most important thing is to understand the problem and consider treatment and lifestyle options that suit you.

I've looked into all the options available to you. I know that everyone is different, and so I present the options in a way that you can relate to. Then you can make the best choice that suits you, rather than being ruled by statistics.

I'll help you adapt to your condition and show you how to cope without losing your identity. The advice I give is mainly based on personal experience. I offer it to help you understand how gout affects you and to help you understand advice you may receive from medical practitioners and other advisors. It is no substitute for seeking qualified medical advice - you should always consult a doctor before taking any medication or drastically changing diet or exercise.

You should be aware that research is constantly changing the way gout is managed. New remedies are being developed and I'll cover these as they become available. New studies are showing that the traditional view of controlling purine intake to reduce uric acid levels is too simple. I explain this research so that you can make a judgment on which treatment is best for you.

It's not always easy, but I hope you can keep smiling. To help you on your way as you think of Food, Glorious Food just sing our song.
