Though not offering any medical explanations, the study reveals a strong independent statistical link between high uric acid and increased likelihood of kidney disease. There is a suggestion that asymptomatic hyperuricemia (raised uric acid levels without gout flares) be taken more seriously, especially where high blood pressure is involved.
