If you are looking for information about gout food list, such as peanut butter, or potato chips, please note that I have moved the detailed snacks nutrition tables to a new website.

Why?

Because such detailed nutritional analysis is beyond the scope of this gout support website.

Before you start looking at individual gout food list you need a good gout management plan, and a thorough understanding of how food affects gout. At the very least, you must read the information on planning an alkalizing gout diet menu. Then if you still want to assess PRAL values of popcorn, rice, or any other food or drink, you can browse my Acid-Alkaline Snacks Food Chart.

I have retained the former introduction to the beverages PRAL chart...

Your Gout Food List Should Include Snacks

Now here is an interesting gout food list - snacks.

I'm a great believer in snacks as part of a good gout diet.

Spread your eating instead of one or two large meals, and you lower the risk of overloading your body through binge or starvation, both of which tend to promote uric acid increases.

If you are looking for purine information, please see the Purine Rich Foods Chart, but before consulting that table of food purine content, you should understand How Purines Affect Gout.

But, of course, there are good snacks and bad snacks. Chewing on barbecue flavor pork skins is unlikely to help your waistline, your health or your gout. I usually recommend something from the fresh fruit gout food list, but there are some other good choices in the table below. Ones to avoid are acid producing or high calorie snacks, or anything with added fructose. You can also consider snacking on small portions of foods in the other tables, shown in my PRAL food table introduction. It's important to understand that page before you study the following table. Another word of warning before you select your snack. Avoid anything containing hydrogenated oil or fat. Even quite small amounts can raise uric acid levels.

Please read my explanation of Potential Renal Acid Load (PRAL) for gout sufferers before you look at detailed food information.
