If you are looking for information about foods that reduce uric acid, such as cashews or pistachios, please note that I have moved the detailed nutrition tables to a new website.

Why?

Because such detailed nutritional analysis is beyond the scope of this gout support website.

Before you start looking at individual gout foods to avoid, you need a good gout management plan, and a thorough understanding of how food affects gout. At the very least, you must read the information on planning an alkalizing gout diet menu. Then if you still want to assess PRAL values of peanuts, coconut, or any other food or drink, you can browse my Acid-Alkaline Nut and Seed Products Food Chart.

I have retained the former introduction to the nuts and seeds PRAL chart...

Foods That Reduce Uric Acid

Foods that reduce uric acid are few and far between.

But managing food intake to reduce uric acid is easy, if you focus on a sensible diet, and not individual foods..

If you are looking for purine information, please see the Purine Rich Foods Chart, but before consulting that table of food purine content, you should understand How Purines Affect Gout.

Nuts, listed in the table below are often alkaline, and to the extent that uric acid is more soluble in an alkaline solution, they might well be classed as foods that reduce uric acid. They are also a good source of anti-oxidants, but for now, let's concentrate on pH balancing.

Nuts show quite a wide range in alkaline and acid producing values. The alkalizing ones make a good addition to what would otherwise be an acid meal.

Please read my explanation of Potential Renal Acid Load (PRAL) for gout sufferers before you look at detailed food information.
