Why?
Because such detailed nutritional analysis is beyond the scope of this gout support website.
Before you start looking at individual foods for gout, you need a good gout management plan, and a thorough understanding of how food affects gout. At the very least, you must read the information on planning an alkalizing gout diet menu. Then if you still want to assess PRAL values of lime juice, grapes, or any other food or drink, you can browse my Acid-Alkaline Fruits and Fruit Juices Food Chart.I have retained the former introduction to the fruits and fruit juices PRAL chart...
Fruity Foods For Gout
Fruit and fruit juices are great foods for gout.
Does this mean that all you can eat, as a gout sufferer is fruit and veg?
No - the best way to enjoy fruit is to let it help alkalize the meat and fish content of a balanced diet.
Many fruits have good anti-inflammatory properties as well, but that's for another page.
If you are looking for purine information, please see the Purine Rich Foods Chart, but before consulting that table of food purine content, you should understand How Purines Affect Gout.
All fruits and natural fruit juices have an alkalizing effect after digestion. However, this does not automatically make them good foods for gout. A pure fruit diet will put you at risk of several mineral and vitamin deficiency diseases. The best thing for your gout is to maintain a good level of general health. Fruit will help balance the acidifying properties of meat and fish, promoting good general health.
The table [now moved] does not indicate that some fruits are better foods for gout than others. You should use it to help you plan meals that include many food groups, with an overall alkaline balance. Fruit snacks are a great way to maintain alkalinity between meals.
By combining foods sensibly, all foods can be good foods for gout. Please read my explanation of Potential Renal Acid Load (PRAL) for gout sufferers before you look at detailed food information.
