If you are looking for chicken and gout information, or any other poultry products such as turkey, or duck, please note that I have moved the detailed nutrition tables to a new website.

Why?

Because such detailed nutritional analysis is beyond the scope of this gout support website.

Before you start looking at which individual foods avoid gout, you need a good gout management plan, and a thorough understanding of how food affects gout. At the very least, you must read the information on planning an alkalizing gout diet menu. Then if you still want to assess PRAL values of chicken, or any other food or drink, you can browse my Acid-Alkaline Poultry Products Food Chart.

I have retained the former introduction to the poultry PRAL chart...

Poultry Foods Avoid Gout If You Alkalize

Which foods avoid gout? Many people choose chicken because it is generally lower in purines than most meat products. It's also amongst the least acidic

In fact most poultry products fall within a fairly narrow range. Less acidic poultry products tend to be raw, and so values are diluted through water content. These foods avoid gout problems when mixed with vegetables to increase total pH.

Like many of my acid/alkali food tables, you need to select foods from this table and mix them with foods from other tables. Mixing these foods avoid gout inducing traps that will cook your goose. Please read my explanation of Potential Renal Acid Load (PRAL) for gout sufferers.

The menu on the left will take you to other gouty pages.
As you move around the menu, this message will change to tell you what the page is about.
