Gout Freedom
Gout Freedom is the working title of a new campaign to improve conditions for gout sufferers.
This is a holding page to bring you complete details when the campaign launches properly. Please subscribe to the gout update service if you want know when the launch takes place.
Why Gout Freedom?
Essentially it means people have a right to be free from gout. The free word is also important, as I feel that gout information should be free.
Gout information should not only be free from cost, it should be free from inaccuracy. Gout treatment research changes best practice, so information must be reviewed regularly. It should also be free from misinterpretation. Having a large group of people willing and able to discuss and improve gouty arthritis information is vital.
I cannot expect gout treatments to be free from cost, but they should certainly be free from hype and mis-selling. So the gout freedom campaign has two elements:
- To develop best advice and best practice and most cost-effective treatments (properly measured by confirmed results and professional investigation). Freedom from gout misinformation.
- To disseminate free information wherever it is needed. Freedom from gout ignorance.
GoutPal Interactive plays a crucial part in improving the gout information published freely here on GoutPal.com. As of August 2010, I am re-organizing and extending it to provide a clearer focus for Gout Freedom.
Gout Freedom RoadMap
- Upgrade GoutPal Interactive forum software
- Split GoutPal Interactive to polls, topic-focused gout discussion (heavily moderated) and, general gout forums (hardly moderated at all).
- Introduce videos explaining interactive features.
- Re-introduce surveys to study and assess the most important issues that Gout Freedom needs to address.
- Extend forums to allow users to create their own gouty arthritis related websites and discussion areas. This allows more freedom for contributors capabilities and creativity beyond the current forum format.
- Introduce a Gout Freedom Campaign group to develop clear guidelines for gout sufferers, in conjunction with the medical profession and wider health industry, and communicate those guidelines across the Internet, and beyond into the off-line world.
