Foot Pain and the Ache, Ache, Ache of Gout
Foot Pain From Gout
Aches and Aches and Aches
Foot pain from gout is so excruciatingly special that it has it’s own name – podagra.
Most gout starts in the area of the big toe, but this isn’t always true.
It can start in other areas of the foot or ankle, or in just about any area of the body.
I’ve talked about gout starting in different joints in the Gout Symptoms sections, where I also plan to look at other causes of pain that might be confused with gout.
But whether it’s foot pain, ankle pain, knee pain or gout anywhere else, it’s a pain.
A real pain.
A pain that has inspired artists through the ages.
It has inspired JIM from London.
OK, his spoof on Tennyson’s Break, Break Break might not be 100% original.
It’s no less brilliant for that, and I love it.
Perhaps you’ll be inspired to write something.
Original or a spoof, I don’t really mind.
But before you do, read on…
Ache, ache, ache
Ache, ache, ache,
In my frail, old bones O Gout!
And I would that my tongue could utter
The pains that make me shout out!
O well for the fisherman’s boy,
That he shouts with his sister at play!
O well for the sailor lad,
That he sings in his boat on the bay!
And the uric acids sink down
To their haven in my big toe;
But O the touch of a light bed-sheet,
And a gasp that is tortured so!
Ache, ache, ache
In the ends of my feet, O Gout!
But the tender grace of a day that is dead
Will never come back to.Ouch!
-JIM from London
