Reduce Uric Acid – Get Rid Of Gout
Reduce Uric Acid
![]() |
Your top concern must be how to reduce uric acid.
Gout sufferers are obviously concerned with pain and food, but the most important thing you must learn is how to lower the uric acid.
If you can manage uric acid, you can manage your gout.
If you do not manage uric acid you will never get rid of gout. Whatever treatment you are taking for gout, medical or alternative, you must measure uric acid levels.
Arrange for regular blood tests to test uric acid. It is the only way to tell if treatment is working or not. Do not rely on the fact that pain may have gone. If uric acid is not lower than 6mg/dL (0.36mmol/L) then your gout pain will come back – probably worse than ever.
Gout Information
I have written several pages about uric acid, including how to lower uric acid levels and how to avoid raising them.
It is a complicated subject, particularly as uric acid is a good thing. It is vital for humans, but too much of it can lead to gout.
Each month I review which are the most popular pages on my website. This month, two pages about uric acid made the top three. This does not surprise me, as most gout sufferers are looking for more information about uric acid and how to reduce it.
2011 Update
I moved this Reduce Uric Acid (first published in May 2008) page here as part of the ongoing website upgrade. The popular pages refer to an old method I had for highlighting the best pages. This is now replaced by the section on the menu called “Best Gout & Uric Acid Pages”. Currently, the pages in that list change daily, but continue to feature pages about lowering uric acid.
You can learn more about how to reduce uric acid in the Reduce Uric Acid with Allopurinol pages, which cover all aspects of lowering uric acid with allopurinol.
